If how-to's were enough, you would be thin, have energy and be happy. As a health coach, I know my clients need support to shift their mindset, overcome excuses and be consistent in order to get results. That is why I support them with personal health coaching, health education, mindset training and all the resources they need to live a lifestyle of health and freedom.
Let me share my journey.
I have studied and worked in what I call ‘traditional healthcare’ for 17 years.  During that time, I have come to know this industry as a disease-maintenance model that can offer prescription and pharmaceutical options to address symptoms and not treat the causes.  Shifts in health insurance have allowed more people access to a broken system but haven’t changed the paradigm to wellness, health or prevention.  Like so many, I have grown tired of hearing of friends and colleagues falling prey to diseases stemming from lifestyle choices.  Diabetes, cancer, obesity and so many others seem to be the rule and no longer the exception.

Over the years my husband and I have sought out alternatives.  How could we take control over our health, energy levels and quality of life?  Like so many we were busy and always on the go.  We wanted lasting results, a realistic lifestyle and something that could meet us where we were and still challenge us to grow.

Many years ago, I met Amber Thiel, the founder of The Healthy Edge.  As I was seeking answers to take control of my health I watched her offer something different, something true and honest to lifestyle modification that was not another fad full of hype. 

As my husband and I took the leap and signed-up for the 8-week program from The Healthy Edge, along with the support of a coach, we found the tools to break through and really begin changing.  We not only learned how food affects our body and metabolism, we learned about US and why we used food the way we did.  And best of all, it wasn’t a diet; it wasn’t about legalistic rules, obsession or starvation!  We have established a healthy relationship with food and we are free from the obsession of the scale.  We have also seen such exciting improvements in our lab results, energy levels, sleep patterns and more.

The program impacted me so much so that I became Certified Healthy Edge Coach to support and empower other women and couples struggling with the same things we had.  Those whom I have coached through The Healthy Edge rave about the program too – they feel in control of their choices and they are able to finally move forward and reach their goals.  My favorite quote from one client “The Healthy Edge not only taught be how to eat, but also what was eating me”.

I was 40 years old, teaching 5+ hours of fitness classes a week and personal training as my career. I was and always have been “FIT”. However…I was not very healthy. For about 10 years I’d been having strange pain in my feet, wrists and shoulders, but as a former collegiate athlete, assumed that it was just normal.

The pain in my feet got so bad that I finally went to see a podiatrist. After 4 years, 2 surgeries, 20+ cortisone shots in various joints, and orthotics in my shoes I was still in pain-even more now. I was frustrated and tired, but I keep dragging thru my workouts and I felt like crap!
I’d had enough shots and surgeries (he was ready to do more) when I got on Web Md and diagnosed myself with Rheumatoid Arthritis. In my LAST appointment with that doctor I asked if I could possibly have this disease. He took one look at my X-Ray and said YES, I’m pretty sure that is what you have.

After more doctors and several blood tests later, I do indeed have RA. That search on Web MD and a conversation with Amber Thiel, creator of The Healthy Edge have changed my life completely! Amber described the principles of The Healthy Edge to me and I was in! I learned how the food I was eating (everyday!) was contributing to my disease and keeping me fit, but unhealthy. I was puffy, sluggish, and riddled with inflammation. In my own health journey I’ve changed how much water I drink, how frequently I eat, what I do and don’t eat, and take supplements. In turn, I’ve achieved newfound energy and feel better than I have in years! Participants in my fitness classes keep asking what I’ve done differently, why are classes so much more challenging now?
